Types Of
Balloons
Latex Balloons
Higher quality rubber balloons are made from a naturally
occurring substance called latex. A common misconception about
latex is that it is not biodegradable, when in fact, latex is
biodegradable and will decompose.
Typically
latex balloons are a simple oval-like shape, however, they
can also be long which allows them to retain shapes when twisted
and bent into simple shapes. Balloon artists have perfected the
art of balloon manipulation and are able to twist latex
balloons into shapes, animals and objects. Latex balloons
are typically purchased in the deflated form requiring filling
to take shape.
Foil Balloons
Inflatable
foil balloons are typically made from plastics, such as
aluminized PET film. Unlike rubber or latex balloons,
foil balloons are not elastic enabling them to have printed
surfaces which do not distort when the balloon in inflated.
The only real concern about foil balloons is the alleged
short-circuiting they cause when getting caught in power lines.
